Gearing & Sprockets_XV250

I thought I'd post this info as the "Swapped Sprockets" post has been locked.
Over the last couple of days I managed to finish recommissioning my wife's 93 XV 250 Virago. Some of the repairs/ maintenance included: fresh brake pads & linings, new tyres, repairs to the starter system and finally an alteration in gearing to improve highway use. I'm sure that anyone who has ridden/owned a 250cc virago realises once they start riding these bikes, is that they are generally undergeared unless you happen to live in mountainous regions.

As I had a 38 tooth (driven) rear sprocket set aside I thought I'd try a change in gearing and still retain the 16 tooth countershaft sprocket. As can be seen from the other ratios below it's very close to the 17/40 sprockets in gearing. It also only requires the replacement cost of one sprocket.

.
16/45. Ratio 2.81 (Standard Factory gearing)
16/38. Ratio 2.37
17/38 Ratio 2.23
17/40 Ratio 2.35
