Headlight bulb (SOLVED)

PostAuthor: Canadian Star » Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:38 am

My bulb is the original 65/60 watt with the large quartz envelope.
I can't find a part number for this bulb and Sylvania/Phillips recommend a 9003 60/55 watt replacement for my bike.
Do you folks use the 9003 or do you have a source for the original 65/60 watt ?
Thanks

Yes, see ... that lists the 60/55 watt standard 9003/.
I guess they don't make the 65/60 watt anymore ..... thanks !

Yes, I know. Never heard of an OEM 65/60. Why I put up that link..to show what Yamaha says is OEM.
If you're look'n for that little extra, without going blue-tip, crystal white or any of that other garbage... (and your wiring is in decent shape): https://fortnine.ca/en/kimpex-halogen-bulb-411206
Hell...there's LED (fan-less), 6500k pure white, with OEM H4 bases. Guess it all depends on what ya want.
Goof'n around I did noticed these--> https://www.ebay.com/itm/183986019361?_ ... 1113.m2108 If this is "anything" like you're look'n for, I have no idea. Is this whatcha mean by "large quartz envelope"? As in shape of the bulb?

My owner's manual lists the 65/60 as standard equipment but the parts list shows a 60/55.
Inside my headlight bucket is a sticker that says 65/60 and the original bulb has a much larger glass envelope than the replacement 9003 bulb.
Long story short, I got the new 9003 installed (had to trim the tabs a bit to make it fit the original slots) but the new lamp works great !
