What do I need to prepare for soda blasting the engine?

PostAuthor: HungeFool » Sat Apr 18, 2015 6:48 pm

I know the obvious stuff like cover intake and exhaust ports. What about the chrome side covers, just tape them up? The rubber pieces that hold the oil lines and do yall remove the electrical components? Wires and stuff. Any other tips on how to make this thing shine I would appreciate as well.

I soda blasted a bunch of stuff on mine: engine, anything chrome and rusty and it all came out pretty nice. What I didn't realize was that I had driven soda up into the headlight bucket, and into all the connections. I had to soak those in vinegar to neutralize and clean each one of them by hand.

The stuff gets everywhere.

I been told by SPI, a paint manufacture, tech guy Barry that you always have neutralize anything that has been soda blasted that is going to be painted. Wash with mild detergent and water and scrub with a red scuff pad.
