Hey fellas, just thought I'd post some more pics here. My folks were out checking out the construction yesterday, and mum got camera-phone happy :p Here ya go

Here's the front Facade, now completed except for the signage

Image

The view in from the front door. The two different tiles indicate where the dining room and kitchen are going to be. It's an open concept kitchen where you can see in, but there will of course be walls and warmers going in soon

Image

Paint's all done. This is a view across the front

Image

This is the exit for the patio

Image

The kitchen tiles before grout

Image

Bah. Messy workers. When I used to lay tiles, I never had mess like this! Then again, I never did 4377 sq ft at once...

Image

Back towards the washrooms

Image

This'll be a washroom eventually

Image

That's it for now! 5 weeks to the day!!!

Thanks for your enthusaism YG. I think my nerves are calming down enough to let me share in that. This week, we've been running our ads in the paper/online for staff. Doing a job fair next weekend, so once that's done, I think I can settle down a bit. Right now I'm just busy worrying whether or not I'll have enough applicants to run the place!!! With 200 seats, I'm going to need about 50-60 staff (servers, kitchen, dishwashers, hosts/bussers, etc)... ugh

Anyways here's a few more pics I took today. They were doing the bathroom and kitchen wall tiles, as well as the drop ceiling/lighting. Coming together guys... coming together.

Here's the tiles in the women's washroom. It's about 2/3 of the wall tiled, the rest is just going to be painted drywall:

Image

Here's the kitchen wall tiles. They look a little uneven, but they'll be hidden behind the grilles for the most part so that's okay..

Image

This place is full of stuff right now!! You can see the ceiling grid, and the bulkheads outline the size of the kitchen:

Image

A better view of the ceiling, and the stack of ceiling tiles waiting to go in. That'll be done tonite or early tomorrow morning:

Image

Barely any room to work, but they're busy busy getting 'er done!

Opening on May the 12th. And you're not kidding about sealing the grout. I used to do tiling, so I know the value of a good sealer, especially the penetrating stuff. Just hope the contractors do too!!

I would like to take credit for that comment of sealing of the grout but I cannot , I was watching Mario the Iron chef and he is opening a new restaurant in L.A . and he told his contractor to make sure to seal grout . Hey and Callan he is not pretty but damn is he talented and he has his own show.

Hey all, haven't been around in a couple of weeks. My old man was in the hospital for the past 5 days and with the restaurant opening in less than 2 weeks, there's been way too much sh!t going on to make it online. Just wanted to give y'all a couple more pics. Almost done now. Should be finished by this Thursday or Friday. These were taken yesterday.

Our newspaper and menu boxes

Image

The now 99% completed ceiling. The white tiles make the place a lot brighter!

Image

A view of one of the benches. The guy was assembling tables while I took this. The kitchen is on the left.

Image

One of the main runs. On the left, six seater booths, on the right, bench and tables. Behind that is the "pass" where we prep and garnish the plates, as well as make the coffee and all that. Behind that is the kitchen.

Image

This is the "pass". This is where the plates leave the kitchen, and get their finishing touches before going out to the customer. We also do all our beverages with the exception of fruit cocktail and smoothies here.

Image

A view of what will be my father's and my office. They hadn't grouted the tiles yet.

Image

A view from the rear service station towards the front door. Kitchen is on the left.

Women's bathroom

Men's bathroom

Image

A look towards the door. Chris is one of the lead contractors. See? The iron cross isn't a bad thing.

Mum giving her a-okay!

Just a week to go til we start the training fellas. I'm getting stressed, but so excited!!! Can't wait.

Hey guys. Everything's going pretty good. Lots and lots of growing pains, but they're starting to settle out. I am completely taken aback at how busy we are on the weekends, and most weekdays have been going pretty well too. This week has been slow, but we're making due.

I'm sorry I've not been posting, and I have a few pictures of this place that I want to upload for you all to see. i'll get them up in the next few days.
