1986 XV700 - stuck throttle (SOLVED)

PostAuthor: mauricedonini » Fri Oct 06, 2017 2:54 pm

Hi Gang,

Newbie here.

Trying to bring back to life a 1986 Virago XV700. Hasn't run in no one knows how long AND had crash damage.

First headscratcher for me. The carb with the throttle cable (I call it right carb because the cable is on the right side of the bike) is stuck solid.

Found this topic in the Ninja section.

Sounds like the same issue. Looking at the diagram, the carb version are different. Looking at my link arm, it looks to be secured in place by a pressed cap (not sure if that's the correct term).

Any suggestions on how to get this off?

(Undesirable option - push everything out from the throttle side)

Hi,

The bike is running - very well actually.

Kinda nice to step back 30 years and bomb around without a computer under my seat.

Thank you
