unknown loose wires

PostAuthor: TheFreeze » Sat Jul 25, 2020 3:37 pm

Hi all,

After couple of years picked up a lost project; my 1992 XV535 Virago code 2YL :)
It was somewhat taken apart when it stopped running and left it after I could not figure out what cause of the problem was. Now I'm trying to piece it together, but can't figure out what these black-yellow and brown loose wires do hanging on the left side near the carbs (see picture). Any ideas? Could not find them on the wiring diagram.

Reagrds,
Dieko

Viragos were sold all over the world, not all have the exact same wiring.

Therefore:
Please add your location to your profile so no one has to ask in the future. With members all over the globe, some info is geographically specific.

I did, but the registration form must have reseted the info when the captcha wasn't correct first time submitting it.

The bike is in the Netherlands. Don't know where the previous owner bought it.
But I think code 2YL indicates it's a UK model according to the Haynes manual.

this post is about going 'bare-bones', but there is a good schematic in it r.e. the B/Y & Br wires? >>> viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24544

Do your carbs still have heater units (one in each carb) and the thermo-switch?

I'm not looking to strip the bike to bare-bones.
The loose wires should have a purpose in the electrical system, right?
I attached the wiring diagram that should correspond to my 2YL-33xxxx bike.

They all are connected; 2 carbs heaters + 1 thermo switch.

Though I can't figure out why the color scheme in the wiring diagram show they should be Y/BL and on the bike are Br/W. All other model diagrams in the Haynes book that have carb heaters, also show Y/BL.
Makes me wonder if I should be looking for another color combination in the diagram regarding the loose wires.
