1987 False tank replacement

PostAuthor: Liamsride » Sun Feb 24, 2019 5:01 pm

Does anyone know what tanks will fit onto an 87 virago with the false tank. Not much out there for aftermarket. What about other makes of bikes. Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to accomplish? The later model 535 tanks should fit.

It does with a short risers from the bolt attachment on the airbox, but there is a lower gas line that poses a problem. Would have to cut and weld a plug into it. I have a 94 535 that I have test fit the tank onto the 87 but would like to not have to weld.

Replace the lower tank on the 87 with a newer model tank, then you can add the upper tank.

Easier said then done. Where the tank and seat meet the frame is narrower and the fuel lines( lower barb) can not sit properly. I am trying to get more km's before refilling.
