Logical. Good article. Keep 'em coming.
Question: Would it help any to use LEDs where possible? Is LED significant reduction of power drain?

I would say yes, however I have never looked at the amperage of an LED compared to an incandescing. I’ll have to research that, Good question.

Led's use a fraction of the power of incandecents, however in order for flashers to work you have to use load equalizers to increase the draw on the circuit which, while still using less juice, doesnt make it that much of a difference.

Then using my headlight on bright all the time (safty) is also putting a strain on the charging system....

G'day Deadeye and welcome to Virago Tech.

Simply put, your bike is designed to run OK with the electricals that is was made with. The charging system will handle the load on it alright, as long as the revs are kept up a little. Once the revs drop below about 2000 RPM the charging system doesn't work as efficiently.

So to answer you question, yes having the light on high and will help contribute to putting more strain/load on the charging system, particularly if the RPM are not kept up over about 2000. More RPM = greater charging output capacity.
