jetting carbs for drag pipes

PostAuthor: neilgeswind » Tue Oct 07, 2014 5:13 am

hi guys...i seem to have the some problem, so lets start with, i removed my slash cut pipes and fitted a set of baffles from my kids pit bike.
i also removed the bug eyes and fitted a filter from a round sport filter from a Ford Cortina. i have quite a bit of popping on de acceleration and loose power
on high RMP when i ride.
1st question, do i have to remove my carbs to remove my jets,
2nd question, what size jets to i have to get,
3rd question, how do i know how far in or out i need to turn the jets in
4th question, do i have to remove the carbs everytime i want to ajust the jets...?

my build turned out perfect but i am a idiot when it comes to mechanics.

Please help....

(1) you have to remove the carbs to rejet, unless you have the hands of a surgeon and the patience of a saint to get the bowls off in frame. but you are about 60% done with everything you have to loosen and remove to the the bowls of anyways.

(2) not sure on that one. your has jet and needle positions to play with

(3) gas analyzer is best, but most likely you done have an O2 sensor either, so it is seat of the pants and plug reading voodoo, along with advice from those that have been there done that.

(4) see #1. to get the tops of the carbs off to adjust the needles is almost taking them off anyways. pull the tank and have a good look on what you need to do to drop the bowls or pull off the tops.

An air filter from a Ford Cortina??? I hate say it but you're on your own with that one.
