Re: Mikuni BST 40 BibleIndeed Jake - thank you coz - it corrects something the Partzilla schematic for the Mikuni carbs depicts incorrectly.

Re: Mikuni BST 40 BibleJake,
Could I ask you a question pls... In these K & L rebuild kits.... ![]() You don't address ALL of the parts that come in the kit - in your above PDF guide to rebuilding. (The red arrowed bits have me scratching my head still). I've followed your directions and still have those new parts left over that don't seem to go anywhere. Is that perhaps because it's a kit that covers a lot of years (82 - 97) and some of the parts are for the different models, so you don't use all of them in say a 97 carb because they are there for the 82 & 83 Hitachi models? Just curious if I have maybe missed something obvious is all?. Cheers! Madness takes it's toll - Please have exact change handy.

Re: Mikuni BST 40 Biblehi the little round plug at the top of pic is the anti tamper plug you have to drill out to adjust the air/fuel mix screw, not needed unless you want to replug after youve dialled the carbs in, the other item youve pointed out looks like the drain screw i had for my hitachi gen 2 carbs.

Re: Mikuni BST 40 BibleHi,
I have a 1994 Virago XV 1100 with two Mikuni BST 40 but it looks like different, in and out, from that one from the BST 40 Bible. Does anybody know why? Thanks, Douglas 1994 Virago XV 1100

Many people at VTF here could tell you. I just happened to drop in and see your "new post". Made for Yamaha is what was often said, so a custom Mikuni BST 40. Although I couldn't say if that's the exact answer and if there's more like a sub-model reason. I think the author wrote the article with the idea of it being a generalization. I forget now and would have to reread. ![]() ![]() Past bikes: 1965 Honda S90; 1975 Yamaha RS100; 1981 Yamaha XS400 Special II ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks don't matter, it's what's inside that counts. _______________________________________________________________________
