Mod Edit: Classic example of why you SHOULD NOT use another site to host your photos. They are gone unless the OP re-posts. This thread is totally worthless for the intended topic, now all it can be used for is an example of why we encourage you to upload and attach your images here.

How to built a bike seat from a seat of a tractor or a similar engine

I just built a new seat for my Virago project. So I did it:

- First I bought a seat of a tractor.

Image

- I marked the outline of the new seat.

Image

- I cut out the shape and flanged the contour.

Image

Image

Image

- I drilled a lot of holes for pop rivets.

Image

Image

- I glued some pieces of foam from an old mattress with a contact adhesive named PATTEX (not available in America, it is a little bit better than simple shoe goo; you should use your favorit adhesive).

Image

Image

- With an angle grinder with a serrated washer I put the foam into shape.

Image

- I primed and painted the undersite.

Image

- I sewed the cover of composition leather by using a sewing machine. The welting is done by using a turned band of composition leather.

- sorry, no photo! -

- I covered the seat and fixed the cover by using pop rivets.

Image

- Done!

I hope, this guidance is helpful for you.

Enjoy yourself!

I didn't built the mounting yet, but it will be a kind of a steel frame which I will mount instead of the original seat.

Got some sage advice from an old biker long ago. "Is your bike still running OK?" "Yeah but....." "Pull your helmet strap tighter so you can't hear it"
