Go to Jakes post, 4/27/11 2:44. Clcik either link; zip (1st) took under 15 seconds to download and requires you have a utility such as Winzip or 7Zip to extract. The other link downloads the file in original format and can be read using Adobe reader, but takes much longer to download. Pay attention to where the file is being saved. After the download is complete Windows gives you the option to open the recently downloaded file.

Re: Yamaha XV Factory Manual '85 ~ '99

PostAuthor: Grodges » Sat Nov 24, 2012 2:54 pm

Is this Link for the Factory Manuel still good? The forum is saying I don't have permissions to view or download the file. I've got my 1986 XV1100 half apart and need to removed the engine from the frame. The procedure is not obvious. Knowing how it should be done would be a tremendous help.

I tapped the bottom of case on a curb breaking the seal. Leaks bad which is a shame. The bike only has 9000k Original miles on it. So luckly me gets to completely disasemble the bike and the engine and reseal it. YUK!!!!!!! And probably do a mod or two when it goes back together.

Please help!!!

I'm trying to get a manual for a XV1100 as well. 1992 if possible.

I have never come across so many dead links and no longer existing attachments in my life.

Anyone have a working one?

Thanks in advance,

:thanks:

that one always works for me. covers 700-1100 from '85 to '99.
it's a big download [~40MB] so it takes a couple of minutes, but it's all there.

if you want a manual that was specifically printed in 1992 you will have to watch on ebay - G'Luck with that, but remember, ----- ----- - let the buyer beware...

Oh, the link works for me, it just isn't a manual for an XV1100 when I open it. It's a group of several service supplements and a manual for XV700/XV1000.

Do you get a XV1100 manual when you open it?

Yes, that sounds like the OEM manual.
[Gen-II] Yam printed their manuals as 700 to 1100 [inclusive], the manual highlights the differences by having sections for each.

OEM has always done their manuals to include the '700s' & > models in the same manual - even my vintage 1st Edition - March 1982 OEM XV920j Service Manual [p/n LIT 11616-XV-91] includes Supplements & the XV750. [IMO it's the best manual they ever made, lots of 'correct' contrast pics, and a huge 4 page-fold-out color schematic]
1000 is basically the same engine; however, it being a US 'transition model' [920 to 1100] it has some items that are unique [starter clutch...for instance]

Is there a difference between the 1st gen factory manual and this one (85-89 factory)?

Does anyone have the 1st gen manual for me please? Much obliged.

vintage Gen-I manual has more & better contrast pictures* and schematics [IMO]
Gen-I look like regular original pics while Gen-II pics look like bad xerox copies [black/white blob no detail] IMO.

sorry, but I'm keeping mine until I no longer need it. maybe my 'estate executor' will put it on Ebay at that time. :naughty:

IMO the older-one is the 'better' one; however, the 'newer' one does have info on the 1000/1100 the 'old' one does not have.

photos to illustrate what I am referring to ...

note: the 'old' schemo is one panel of a 4 page fold-out
