Turn signal cheap repair

PostAuthor: rchawaii » Thu Oct 31, 2019 6:45 pm

So, I’m posting from my phone so forgive my typing.

I posted elsewhere about my dead left rear signal. So I worked up a cheap repair to get me by for now.

As a reminder, my left signal bulb holder and internals were rusted and so bad I had no signal.

Today I went to the auto parts store and purchased a 3.99 old style dome light because it has a socket bulb fixture. It was attached to a plate in the housing so I had to figure out how to use it.

I removed it from the plate and viola I re-soldered the new parts into the old wires and I now have an operating light. I still need one screw for the lens in the meantime but it works in the bike and a bonus is the bulb seems to be the same.

Pics attached should explain.

Enjoy !

My photos are out of order but I think you get the idea.

The only tools I needed was a phillips screwdriver to disassemble an reassemble and solder/solder gun and I also used a small butane torch. Electrical tape.
