750 4FY Exhaust repair

PostAuthor: Bodo750 » Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:49 pm

Hi everyone in VTF! After having a few cracks in the exhaust chrome it has been dismantled off the bike and given for solder repair. Just to share experience with all of you I will try to post photos as well. The repair did not cost me that much money, kinda less than 20 USD if my calculator works well. :;: The top exhaust was cracked visually only from top side, but it came out it had to be done almost all the way around the bracket and behind /where the tire is/. The bottom one had just a little hole from where it was "puffing" and the repair was not that much. As an advice from the solder guy there was a little ''pimple'' on the top tube which he did weld as well. Hope this info helps...Let me try to attach the pics now.

I assume you meant welding the cracks, not soldering.

Sure thing.I have always tried to keep my bikes as stock as possible. Especially for the exhaust of this model there are not many options. New one? Discontinued from production... Sec.hand? Some are to be found at good price, but the shipping cost is a killer. Vance&Hines or Cobra? I'd better start writing my letter to Santa...I have also checked some european manifacturer companies, Remus and Kalinsk but it will be the same pricewise. Or they do not have it for this exact model. So far so good. :bg:
