Would Changing Exhaust on my 1982 XV750 Help the Sound?

PostAuthor: Aggressor666 » Mon Sep 17, 2018 10:56 pm

Hey all,

New to the forum and bike ownership in general. I have a 1982 XV750 and love the bike, but am less than happy with the look/sound of the stock pipes. So my question is - would swapping the exhausts to a different style (namely Voodoo Turnouts - model VC403) do anything for the tone or sound coming from the exhaust, or just change the look?

Most aftermarket pipes will make the sound louder, but all are different..... Pipes for the 82 are hard to find.

Here’s the problem you have, your stock exhaust mufflers are one piece.

You have three options.

1. Drill out the baffles

2. Buy a full exhaust system, probably Mac.

3. Cut off the mufflers and weld in pipe so the Voodoos can be used. I don’t know how easy that would be or feasible that would be.

EDIT: 4th option, custom make your own.
