Slimmer smaller tank fo 94 XV750

PostAuthor: Mozzer » Sun Oct 27, 2019 9:48 am

Hello,
I was looking for a smaller tank that would fit on with minimal modification. Would a XV250 swap out?
CM400? looking for options.
Thanks Guys,
Any ideas would help!

Hey mate...

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for a tank for my '96 750 project.

I took some rough measurements of the frame and the size I want to end up with and then went looking/shopping. I've ended up with a Z1000j tank and I'll be trying it for fit next week...

As you can tell I wasn’t looking for small and slim. It’s the length I was after, as I’m building a cafe racer I want a long reach to the clip-ons...

Don't know if you saw the reply to your question in my thread, but yes, the cm400 tank fits really nice. I had to weld new mounts for the front, reused the stock mount for the rear, and had to clearance the tunnel a little bit with a ball peen hammer. I run a manual inline petcock.

I also saw a virago for sale locally years ago with a Honda CB tank on it. 750? 550? I can't remember what it was off of, but looked pretty good as I recall. Sorry no pics.

I don't know if it will fit but an SR400/500 has it's oil stored in the frame backbone so it may be wide enough to clear the
Virago's frame and it's pretty narrow. Admittedly I don't know what the 94 frame looks like, but the tank looks good.
