:GJ: ...yep..great feeling when you hit that start button for the first time and she comes to life, after major work. Makes rest of tiding up..well..FUN! :woot:

Relocating that shifter & brake oughta cut down on the gymnastics you probly have to do now.

Just finished up with tank paint and clear coat. I used a Duplicolor Indigo Metallic.
Just have to wait a couple days for final wet sand and polish.
Came out pretty nice for a rattle-can in the garage job!
(and yes I made a little whoopsie overspray in the neck...will clean later)

Edit- sorry about the gigantic pic!

I edited your post with the tank.

Once you upload the attachment. Click " place inline " button below the attached file, many times it will reduce the photo so it stays within the text area.

A smaller size 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600 ( preferred ) is better.

I just did the same thing with your 1st photo, it looks better.

Note: when placing inline, you have to place your text cursor to where you want the photo, for instance between paragraphs or sentences or the bottom of the text. If you don't do that, it will put the photo at the top by default.

Got my tank finished up and on...
Waiting for some bar end mirrors and a speedo cable, then its time to go get it safetied...
Anyone have any thoughts on a seat to tank transition for my bike?
I was thinking just a cover piece, either molded from fibreglass and painted to match, or one made of vinyl upholstery?
Would be nice to chop and cap the end of the gas tank, but I'm a little leary of that route...
Any comments or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam

There was a write up and I believe in was under fabrication (VTH). Not for sure, though. Bout a fella doing just that. Extending the seat pans' nose with fiberglass. I'll see if I can find it or do a search. Maybe one of the mods can point ya to it.

Look'n Nice! :GJ:

Well, it's time...she's going into the local shop tomorrow to get safetied...I spoke to the owner in advance yesterday and they said that it wouldn't pass without a front fender...Drats! I hadn't planned on running one...
So, when life gives you lemons...you fab a fender the day before the safety inspection...
Off to Princess Auto for an ABS trailer fender, and a piece of 1" flatbar.
Add a jigsaw, grinder, some paint and a couple of pints and Voila! Here's my new fender...
Was going to keep it on just for the Safety, but I just might keep it Lol...

Sure wish I could find that thread on extending the seat pan up & around the tank. Saw it only month or two ago. I'll keep looking .

Not the exact one I was looking for, but---> viewtopic.php?f=10&t=48824 The drawback would be having to dink with some frame work.

Well thanks for looking Dog...I now have a donor bike, so if nobody needs the seat for it, I plan on cutting the nose off of the pan and extending my cafe seat pan then revinyl...
Or at least that's the plan Lol...

Yea..if you're going to be cutting up the donor, you could experiment with a chunk of it. See if you can get it pliable enough, somehow (heatgun, oven, etc) to get to shape around the gas tank.

Been riding her to work...hehehe it's been great!
Except...both Saturday and Sunday morning was 4 degrees Celsius outside lol...
My coworkers called me a lunatic...i told them I preferred the term dedicated...as I shivered...
Got a few hundred kilometres on it now since build and it's running great..
A little pilot screw fiddling and spark plug watching, but I feel I have it dialed in now...
What a blast to ride, and she's kinda pretty too...
Happy Virago rider here....Booyah!
