Throttle Response & Acceleration mod ?

PostAuthor: El Muerte » Sat Jul 14, 2018 6:29 am

So, I found this video on the youtube, and I wanna ask question if this is real deal or another bull crap ?
Has anyone tried this ?
It would be good for someone to explain us mortals here, what is happening with the carb when you apply this mod.

I'll be honest, I didn't want to watch a 20 minute video.

What is he proposing?

I've heard of the spring clip'n trick. Just lightens the pressure on the slide. JMO... But drilling another vacuum hole? Don't sound right. Seems it would upset the balance somewhere within all the interactive carb parts. These are cruisers not track bikes. Much like Hellgate..never finished it. Figured he had problems soon as I saw that soaked slider/diaphragm. Whether he was 'really' improving or masking from some other carb related problem. Don't know.

Ok here is an update.
Just seen this post on FB group named "Yamaha XV250 V Star & Virago Mods" and here is one interesting post I foud regarding the slide mod :

"Hey all OK I just did the slide mod, and a big thanks to tattsforlife and iridetas, the mod worked and it gives you that extra kick, in second I gave it and had to hold on or I would have fell backwards, I didnt have to retune, as I think my bike was running a little rich before the mod, it was an easy enough mod to do even though I do not have any qualified mechanically experience. The only frustration for me was getting the screws off, my bike is 2014 so I think they still had factory locktight on it, but I did it but I did f**k up some screws but Bunnings provides, all in all I'm very happy with this mod and cant wait to go for a longer ride tomorrow. I feel it wont damage the engine or anything it just de- restricts the bike . I will update more tomorrow once I ride it for a good hour or two"

Once again, like your AIS removal posting..."Old Thread"... :search2: VTF.
The real question, on your own thread, would be.."Why you think you need this"?

1. The search function on this site is terrible.
2. Searching is how I found this thread.
3. Why start my own thread when there is another thread talking about the same thing?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Cuz..usually when a thread is close to a year old and no activity , as this one is, the OP is usually long gone or doesn't care anymore. Why I used the terms "once again", cuz you posted to a year old thread elsewhere. Nobody is usually home anymore on those.

Reasonable question, especially since the OP never gave an update as to whether he tried it.

There is history behind the search feature. There is only the Google search that works for the forum now because of the sheer size of the membership and the data involved. The internal search was so much better, but with many many people ( not just members ) searching the site, it caused us to surpass our allotted CPU on the server. Many users, with those users having muliple tabs open, system overload, so the server owner would shut us down occasionally.

Here's how this works. El Muerte started this thread, if he ran into problems doing the mod, then he could ask for help. If you were trying to do this mod to your bike, we would expect you to start a new thread with any problems you may have, otherwise, you would be threadjacking and it's never good to try to help two people on the same thread that may have different issues.

As I said earlier, the question was not unreasonable. I follow much more than anyone thinks. I have time after time, split the threads where needed and inform those that need to start a new thread to do so.

If either of those two threads progressed into someone else needing help, that would be the time to do something.

Now, you guys shake hands :bg:

Hello again.
I never tried the mod because I never got the right answers I was looking for.
No I did not had any problems, I just stopped visiting because after couple of weeks, no one had the answer neither I was closer getting one.
Problem is even to this day, nobody can give me the proper answer on this subject as you can see in the comments.
I am still very interested in the mod IF it can give rexpected esults, without doing any damage to my bike.

I am still around, I just don't visit that much, because of work and stuff.

Cheers.

Throttle response is "all" the mod does (if anything). Try zip-tie'n couple spring's coils together. Basically same thing as clip'n the spring. If you don't like it, snip them off. Or..score couple springs and/or slides and clip/drill away. Won't hurt anything..either runs right or not, but won't blow up. You're just effecting "how" the fuel is delivered. Doesn't look to be anybody "round here" wanting or needing to do this, why noone is talk'n bout it.
