Now I've said it multiple times, the oilpump (yes even the later model with the bigger shield) can be installed without removing the flywheel. Yet quite a few people doubted that it is truly possible. So recently, while building my new motor, I took a few pictures:

Once you remove that last remaining philips bolt, you can sneak in the rear part and align it with the oilports in the crankcase

If you don't move the shaft of the oilpump fitting the whole lot is a dead simple affair of simply pushing it back on

Then you tighten up the philips bolt (use some Loctite) and install the sprocket and cover and be done with it.

Hope this saves at least one Virago/XV/TR1 from bent valves on the rear cylinder, because the timing is off.
