Virago Moded Mikuni VM34 tuning

PostAuthor: peterguzzi » Sun Jul 21, 2019 10:58 pm

Hi Folks,
I replaced the stock carbs on a 1993 750 with the aftermarket Mikuni VM34 carbs sold pre-tuned for the 1981-83 750-920 Virago.
I am finding that the jetting across the board appears to lean.
Does anybody now if they changed the cam profiles or otherwise on the newer Virago's requiring larger jetting?

Cheers

There's a lot of variables here. What's your elevation? Are you utilizing the stock air filter? Have you determined at which point in the power cycle it's running lean?

Rarely are these carbs/kits plug-and-play. More often than not they'll necessitate making minor adjustments to the mixture screw or going up/down a size or two on the pilot or main jets (or both).

Good luck!
