New Owner Introduction / Build

PostAuthor: TotalPackHack » Mon Jun 24, 2019 8:51 am

Well hey there fellow Virago owners. Yesterday I acquired a 1995 XV1100, this is my first Virago. I am planning on doing a build and am internally battling with which direction I want to head. One being strip it and go bobber. The other being refurbish it back to its original glory. I am starting this thread as an introduction to myself and being my first Virago build, a channel for people to throw any information they deem necessary my way. Issues with the bike as of now, is that it has been sitting for multiple years. There is rust in the gas tank that has produced a pinhole leak. There are electrical issues with lights and other accessories working at random, most likely a ground? Other than that, to the naked eye, all appears to be in great shape for a $350 buy. First plan of attack is getting the gas tank cleaned up and sealed (any suggestions?), along with a battery. The floor is open to you guys, I greatly appreciate your input. I will be sure to post photos of progress and look forward to talking with you guys. Also, links to any websites for parts you guys trust would be appreciated as well. Cheers!

Please add your location to your profile so no one has to ask in the future. With members all over the globe, some info is geographically specific.

Add your location at this link -----> ucp.php?i=264

Since you asked questions and are looking for suggestions, I moved this out of New Member Introductions for your benefit.

:VTF: Bring it back to its original glory. Just in case you are taking votes.... You just need to make up your mind what you want and what kind of riding you want to do.

Please take the time to edit your profile to show your location. City, State/Province, and Country.
It is easier to help you if we know where you are.
