XV920MK box of rocks swap starting issue.

PostAuthor: Steve_White88 » Fri Jul 10, 2020 3:20 pm

Hi,

I have managed to finish my treasure hunt for all the components for the later starter swap.

Fitted them all to my bike, using the xv1000 84 "flat" cover.

Finished the wiring so that the starter motor and both solenoids trip.

However I am having an issue where when I press the starter button and it starts to turn but then disengages, like I've taken my finger off the button, but I haven't.

I'm at a bit of a loss with it, as I've tracked the voltage through and the battery has enough charge.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Hi Bill,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I've attached a video of the wiring (excuse the crudness of the wiring, just trying to get it working before making it look pretty).

Thanks

Steve

According to you white board diagram you have the old SS wired as well? Why? Get rid of it and run the wiring to the new SS.

Hi,

From my understanding reading the instructions, you need to keep both solenoids in order to keep the wiring a little simpler.

Is this incorrect? If so how do you wire without the original solenoid next to the battery?

Thanks

Steve
