restoring a xv750 in China,

PostAuthor: eslmatt » Mon Aug 21, 2017 6:21 am

In 2008 my xv750 was stolen from my place in China, after 8 years I saw it parked. After talking to the guy who had it, he gave it back to me for cost of the work he had done to it. About $150... It sat under an awning for the past 7 years because the person who stole it did not want to invest in the bike. I will be updating this thread as work progresses and linking the threads of the specifics.

It burned oil and ran poorly when I had it, still does, but worse.

I am completely rewiring the bike.

Replacing the piston rings, seems like I need a full engine rebuild.

Front brakes except the calipers are being replaced

All lights switched to LED, these are really cheap in China. $25 for head light and signal lights. Tail light will be a bulb replacement.

New carbs

The guy that stole it let it sit for 8 years. This guy bought it and started restoring it, I felt bad for him.

Well well, look what I found :bg:

I have a great number of pictures on my hard drive from when we did the forum upgrade. I was looking for something else and noticed your bike.

finally starting to get some work done.

Here is the work space I had.

Here is the work shop I built.

I just need to drill some holes so I can lock the work bench and store tools in there. Then I can bring my compressor down and some tool boxes.
