PostAuthor: dobiejason1983 » Wed Jun 21, 2017 10:48 pm

So I recently purchased a 84 1000 with 4000 some original miles.. What do you guys think it would be worth fully restored (original paint all matching covers and such) this is one of the gold viragos with the brown two tone paint..

That depends on a few other factors, like what condition is it in now ? 4000 miles is not a lot, but tells nothing of the overall condition.

I'll post some pictures. There's actually 2 bikes we're going to try to make one restore with the best of the parts and just make the other one run for a fun bike.

Thanks Bill

Honestly, unless is NOS, not much. Silk purse, sows ear...

It's very very hard to find gold trim that is suitable for restoration. The gold doesn't hold up well in sunlight.

Kelly Blue Book for my zip code says $1450 retail in excellent condition. In other words, if you are looking to restore with an eye to make money, it's not gonna be much.

You might find someone who really wants a memory of their's again. I'd like an 82 750 Maxim but just found an 84 virago 700 with less than 2 miles on it and plan to bring it to life. Not sure what I'll do with it, but might use it to give my big Goldwing a break. The value of some bikes are in the eye of the beholder or their memories.

OP! Unless you are restoring it to ride, it has to be a labor of love and not a project to make any money. Parts are rare and are expensive when you can find them. NOS in particular... Try Partzilla for OEM parts.
Greg, you are dreaming! Maybe from a collector, but they want original, The Ignatech TCI isn't stock. NADA lists the bike at 5200 in Excellent condition and $2800 in Very Good condition. Same as in CA where I just moved from. Wish I could get that kind of money, I would sell mine!

Nearly a year old thread. The OP hasn’t logged in since 6/22/2017.

Time to lock the door.
