Crappy 535 crank case covers

PostAuthor: Lloouu » Sat Oct 20, 2018 10:29 am

Found a 535 virago that I really like BUT the engine casing looks like this. Can I clean it up, perhaps with some Autosol or similar? Or is this too badly worn to get back to being shiny?
Any tips would be great, please be warned I’m a biker newbie so don’t get too technical. This is the only virago near me that I can afford so I’m really hoping you guys can help me out with how to get this back to looking great. :):
Thank you!

hard to say definitely from a pic, but looks like road-salt damaged clear-coat?

remove with aircraft-paint remover, then you could polish to a nice shine almost like it was chromed.

only requires ample application of 'elbow-grease'...
