Rear Brake Pedal 81' XV750

PostAuthor: Flyingdog » Sat Aug 19, 2017 3:37 pm

Wife never really cared for the position of the original pedal. Raised/Lowered..never mattered. Even when I rode it..thought it was in a kinda oddball position. So I got a pedal from Polkahero, who was parting out a 90' 750. Worked out pretty well. Move the pad couple inches forward. Haven't decided whether to run it high or low. She'll have to ride it. Might do alittle tweak'n with the torch. Get that pad bout 3/4" inward. But that's "my" deal. Might not bug her at all. Keep my mouth shut..she'd probly never know the diff. Eh..then again she's ex-military (23yrs)..somewhat anal on certain things. :drama: As if I had to tell you this. :drama:

Here's a thought, why not make the pad a little bigger ? You could zip tie a temp on of wood to see how it fits and feels. No need to heat and bend.

Nice idea, but 'my' reason wanting to bend it was to get it 'out of the way' from front of foot. My boot, being alittle longer, rests on top of pad. Really kinda depends on what angle-to-peg your foot's rests, I guess. As it is now, my foot rests bout 1/2" above it. Bending would move it off to the side, atad. I took it out for alittle spin and it wasn't a problem, as is. With the peddles free play too, don't seem to come close to accidentally dragging the brake. But, then again, I was aware of it..atm. If things start smelling or glowing back there..OR...comes to a screech'n halt... then, there may be a problem. Eh...it's all a crap shoot. :bg:

Even simpler, yet. Could just cut the pad and re-weld it to opposite side. But, alas...no welder. Always thought of it. But, then running a new circuit/outlet etc etc. And...I'm not the best welder. I can make things stick and I "am" one-hell-of-a-grinder, though. Besides, my garage isn't that big. Enough stuff lining the walls. heh

LOL..had to jump back in here and mention...I ""Just"" got an email from Jegs performance....advertising a welder. Now that's irony! But..then again..it's Tig..farting around with bottles, gas, learning foot controls etc etc etc..I'd stick with the Mig...or even stick..lol I mean, one can get little units for the hobbyist. Not that high on the list, atm.

Polkahero: Heresy? lol....There both 750s..so it's only ""microcosm"" of heresy. And...I won't mention it to the purists if you don't. But...I will keep an eye out for the black helicopters, incase somebody gets alittle bent outta shape bout it. :BFG: For laughs..of coarse. heh
