Drviragopete Pete Pasco

PostAuthor: Oldie64 » Fri Mar 30, 2018 10:59 pm

I've been in contact with this individual since 2017 gathering information regarding the inerrant problems associated with the virago 750 starter. I haven't had the time or money to fully devote to a solution and just today because I haven't ordered anything and was communicating with him in a polite and proper manner indicating why i haven't gotten back to him he post rude comment and basically says I'm banned from his emails and basically to go f myself. So I'm posting this here and have his comments recorded in my emails and my replies as well so others may see what this colorful individual is like and may be like in dealing with him. I wouldn't send him business now if he may be the last solution to the problem.
Seems like a temperamental off the wall kind of individual at best for his comments to a potential client who is interested in what he had to offer. And I told him because of his inappropriate responses and comments that I would post this anywhere i could do boycott his business.
Buyer beware!!!!!

Well he is charging $144.95 for about $25.00 in Yamaha parts. Count your blessings.

Just goes to show, you should'a been here the whole time.
What is recommended here is have a fully charged good/fresh battery, #8 (or larger) cable from the Battery to the solenoid / solenoid to starter, with clean connections. I added a ground wire from the starter body TOO the battery.
4 brush starter makes a big difference. Engine in a good state of tune.
"Fixing" the starter problems with these bikes isn't easy or cheap, but you don't have to pay somebody for figuring out what you need
when it's essentially free here.

issues with that individual go back at least a decade on this site.

there have been a couple of bent egos that had to be culled.

yep, it's an old farm/ranch term - tough work, but it improves the end-product for everyone.

maybe it's a Tex or Okie thing :con:

didn't always send to slaughter, but sell 'em off to "thin" the herd.

Simple ebay work: If it has the power-connector on the far end, the long shaft and is made for the 1100 Virago, you're good. Then all you have to do is swap over the planetary gear-set from the old starter to the new one (and grease it up, while you're at it) and you're golden. Most likely a V-star starter (which has a short shaft as well) should work fine and is 4-brush from the get go.
