Angle grinder/chop sawI’ve been looking at YouTube videos and all types of designs and plans for turning an angle grinder into a mini chop saw.
Some are very nice, some primitive, some all metal, some plywood. The metal ones are harder to make, but more durable. A sliding saw would be a nice feature too. Today, I found an angle grinder holder that makes the aforementioned types less attractive. Sure there is a certain level of satisfaction in making your own, and one would think it would be cheaper. Buying the steel I need to make one, and the time I would spend, not to mention aligning everything perfectly, ( frustrating at times ) doesn’t begin to compare to the one offered by Northern Tools. Currently it’s offered at Northern’s web site and EBay for $18.99 + free shipping. Do I need one often ? No, it just beats using a reciprocating saw or hacksaw for the times I do, and I already have the angle grinder. Re: Angle grinder/chop saw
YouTubers make it look somewhat straight forward. What they don't tell you is how many times they had to build the contraption to get it right. Before I ordered, I checked Harbor Freight, they don't have anything. _______________________________________________________________________

Re: Angle grinder/chop sawThese are (undoubtedly) awesome. Can't replace a bandsaw, but it's a very useful tool at times.

Re: Angle grinder/chop sawNot uncommon for us Canucks to sometimes pay double the value of a small or low priced item for freight. Add to that the cost of duty and taxes when it crosses the border, the $0.75 value of our dollar, and it's often enough to give up on a purchase unless its something you really need. FedEx is usually the worst; I was somewhat surprised to see USPS being this high on this item, I guess the weight might be the culprit in this case.

![]() Re: Angle grinder/chop sawCONUS gets that, too.
not unusual on-line to find S & H charges as much or more than item --- like bottle of ink ~$8 then shipping ~ $10-12 [unless I buy 3] makes ya kind of appreciate the old brick-and-mortar stores even more. "Over the Mountains of the Moon,

When I get some free time away from other things that need done, I'll open it and put it together. _______________________________________________________________________

Re: Angle grinder/chop sawOk, caught up a little.
Put it together just a few minutes ago. The plastic guard is a little cheesy, may not even use it. I haven’t tried cutting anything yet, all I have is grinding wheels. I’m using a Cummins angle grinder, you guys that ever saw the traveling tool sale know what I’m talking about. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
