xv535 confusion

xv535 confusion

hi can anyone help? i have an xv 535 which seems to be an import to the uk from the continent whats confusing me is that the vin number has 9 digits but the bike has the two fuel tank configuration which does not make sense as from what i can gather yamaha changed this later than they changed the vin # laws please help im scratching my head .

im not really sure what your asking...all i know
is i had the 535 when they first came into the uk and that had the 2 tank system...

Very first Viragos 535 in period 1987-1989 did have lower real 8.6L and upper dummy tank. On later xv535 years the upper dummy tank was replaced with real one 4.9L. I don't know is there any relation between tank and VIN.
