Cycom deletion?

PostAuthor: Xdeano » Thu Jul 30, 2020 7:10 pm

So I downloaded the wiring diagram for the 82 920j. Printed it off. Then downloaded geo's instructions for removing the starter cutoff relays and subsiquent deleting the cycom unit instruction.

Holy crap am I lost.

There should be a step by step video. This piece of paper just doesnt make sense to me.

I either need an more simplified version, one with less words or maybe I'm just over complicating the whole process.

Under step2 of starter cutoff I pulled the green w/blue through the harness from the seat side. What do I do with it? Cut it off, Cap it? Splice it someplace else?

This is just the start.

Step 2 paragraph 2. The sky blue wire going to the diode and the other sky blue going to thr starter cut off relay are clipped, but what do you do with them? Tie them together? pull them out of the 4 way splice?

Its a good video but doesnt really give me an in-depth visual of what Geo did with the wiring harness to delete the switches and cycom. Or what to do with the wires when cut off.

I wish I could have someone to call to walk me through the process. It really shouldnt take very long to do.

Maybe you’ll heed this advice or maybe not, but..... I think it would be a good idea to see if you can get the thing running before doing anything related to the Cycom.

If it’s running and then something goes awry, it’s easier to back track your movements.

I realize this. But I woke up this morning with a clear mind not after a full days work, and good nights sleep, and a nice cup of coffee and knocked it out by looking at the wiring diagrams and just thinking through it. There were several wires that had insulation that was missing due to mice. Fixed those. I need to order up a 4 brush starter and then I'll wire things back up, put the carbs back on and give it a go.

I know there are gremlins in these bikes. I just need to slow down a bit and play around. I do appreciate the help guys.
