stator cover gold trim ring

PostAuthor: gregkw1 » Wed Oct 11, 2017 2:15 pm

Does the trim ring on the left hand side stator cover can that be removed easily or does the whole cover have to come off.... I see three screws on the outer cover but not sure of the trim ring

Just the cover comes off in two sections (gold trim & center chrome piece), by the three screws. Gives ya access to the timing mark sight glass.

Are you sure it's just the three screws and the trim ring comes out I thought I saw it in a diagram there's a backwards screw going through that gold trim ring which means you have to get behind that screw to loosen it which also means the whole cover might have to come off please somebody correct me and tell me I'm wrong

Your right on that diagram, but it sure looks like you just have to remove the three (outside) screws, then you have access to the flathead (inner) screws to separate the three pieces. Sure doesn't look like they'd go thru the engine cover. There would have to be a gasket/0-ring if it went thru the case and there is none listed. Got an idea..take the three screws out and see what you have. :bg: I take it you've never adjusted valves or timed your engine..just that plate (not engine cover) has to come off for that.

I don't do my own work on the bike but I'll try removing the three screws and see what we get

Bet you'll get three pieces sandwiched with those flat-heads.
