Is XV1000 left side crankcase cover made of unobtanium?I have an 85 XV1000 project that I am attempting to resurrect. Problem is, the left side crankcase cover is missing and I haven't found one after 2 weeks of internet search

Re: Is XV1000 left side crankcase cover made of unobtanium? You can widen your search by including Europe and Australia and also by including the TR1. In Europe, we had the XV1000SE Midnight Special instead of the XV1000 Virago, but you should also try searching for "XV 1000" - "XV 1000 SE" - "TR-1" - "TR-1" and "TR.1" as in Europe it is common to keep letters and numbers separated by a blank space.
![]() Re: Is XV1000 left side crankcase cover made of unobtanium? The XV1000 was only made for two years, ‘84 and ‘85. Many people are looking for the left side and components to convert some 750s and 920s to the 2nd Gen starter system, so when one becomes available, it is snatched up quickly.
You would probably be better off to convert to an ‘86 or newer system. _______________________________________________________________________

There are a number of these out there. To use them on your 1000, you will need to fabricate spacers for the PU Coils and Stator. Otherwise you will not get spark..... Bill

Re: Is XV1000 left side crankcase cover made of unobtanium?I have both side covers for sale if you're still looking. I also have all the 'gen II starter upgrade kit' parts for sale as well from a 750 if you end up wanting to go that route instead.
The XV1000 aren't original cosmetically though. The guy had someone change it to say V-Twin instead of Virago. I tried to think about why someone would do this, but then I could feel the will to live draining from my body so I was forced to stop. 1992 XV750

Good. Do you have any photos of them? I'm interested.
