1982 XV920RJ - On The Road

PostAuthor: o c t o r » Sat Aug 12, 2017 11:44 am

. . . WELL . . I would Truly Like to Thank "kwikcoupe" . . .

. . For insisting That I have His XV920RJ . .
It all started back in January 2015 . . when I responded to his sale ad in VTF.
It Came complete needing a paint Job . .
. . It Came also with NEW Metzler tires and Starter, and Progressive front springs and Progressive rear spring . .
. . Installed . . .
New Fork Seals
As we were talking in the winter . he wanted 1000usd
I said " Oh Man . it is my slow season, and the exchange rate would kill me" to which he said he wouldn't mind waiting some.
4 months later he said he would take 500usd
But then there was a Title issue . . which he had all the paper work . . Just hadn't done it . . so I think there was a penalty on top o-v it

So a year later . . I went and picked it up . . .

I Got it exported/imported into Canada Just fine . . . and was elated . .

First it was Stuck in gear and took a day to get it released (just glad I didn't have to split the case)
filled the chambers with WD40 + oil and let sit for a while . . as it hadn't turned over in 10 years or so
Pulled the plugs did a wet comp test (great comp)
Oil Change
Then took the carbs off for a cleaning

Yea 10years . . the gas became solid and green.
Took A Lot o-v Cleaning one passage in the bowl was blocked solid and took a few days to clear out.

I then left it for the winter . . . Then Last week . put it together and fired it up (That still took a bit o-v doing)

I Taped up the seat . . Changed the drive greese out . . Painted the parts . .

. . . and Now Ride it daily . . . Thank You Michael N.

There is so much to do . . like original paint . . but for now it is my Daily rider and a permanent part o-v my collection.
It's Name is Hannibal the Sequel . . . as the previous 920R was Hannibal because with a collector plate
I called it Hannibal Co-Lector . . Tee Hee . . Partly Because IT REALY EAT UP THE ROAD . .

aka. octor Virago
aka Doctor Virago
But you can just call me Doc
