What are the best 920 upgrades

PostAuthor: Jitters » Mon Sep 07, 2020 2:01 pm

Hi everyone , so I’m very new to this bike and working on bikes in general.
I’m wondering what everyone’s thought is on upgrades to do to a 920 ?
For power , speed , sound ?
Let hear your ideas guys ,
Cams? , bore out?

:yup:

How does the bike run as is? Get a manual. Get comfortable with the bike..as is. Dive head first into any/all maintenance. JMO: Doesn't make sense upgrading till the base bike is in good running order. Actually, you could upgrade every nut/bolt and doodad on the thing. But if there was just "one" thing outta place "to begin with", you'd probly play hell back tracking, trying to get the bike to run proper.
Above all: get a manual. Get comfortable with the bike. Dive head first into any/all maintenance.

Otherwise: exhaust, carbs, shock, front end, brakes, tires, handlebars, ditch bout 100#...few things could be looked at.

Currently the bike is a 750 on a 920 frame , I have the complete 920 drivetrain to swap back on
, as for the 920 , running condition is unknown and was considering swapping back in after a rebuild/upgrade
The 750 runs great , I’m very mechanically inclined build a Jeep or two offer the years.
Had dirt bikes and such as a kid that I maintained and repaired.
I was planning a full custom exhaust as I have tig, and mig welders
Carbs not sure what’s the best choices or what choices are even available

How deep do you want to go into the motor?

High compression pistons along with cams really wake the motor up nicely.

Race Tech Gold Valves and fork springs improve the frontend.

New brake pads and stainless steel brake lines improve the front brake performance and feel too.

Oh, did I mention the starter?
