Unlocked means you can connect it to any of the main networks.

I know what unlocked means. I want to know if anyone had trouble getting an unlocked phone added. All of my phones came from the carrier.

Added to What?? If you want an unlocked phone added to your existing account, the carrier you have will add it to your account for you either with a new number or you can use an existing number you currently have if you are upgrading your existing phone. There should be no problem adding the phone to your account as long as it has not been reported stolen.

Personally, I don’t have any experience with an iphone, however I have used previously owned and new unlocked cell phones on my carrier. Asus, Samsung and Nokia are some.

I haven’t encountered any trouble except for a few issues getting the phone set up properly to send and receive text messages. I had to decipher that on my own, my carrier wasn’t very helpful since they didn’t sell the particular brand I needed help with.

One thing you have to keep in mind, the phone you buy has to match the type of technology your current carrier uses, GSM ( sim cards ) or CDMA .
