longer clutch/brake cables

PostAuthor: Blee » Tue Mar 24, 2020 8:16 pm

I am currently turning an 82 xv750 into a bobber. I am wondering if anyone has ideas on clutch and brake cables for 12" handle bars.
I would rather use 920 cables or 1100 cables if the lengths are long enough but I cannot find OE lengths.
I need 50" brake line and a 59" clutch cable.

You could call/write any reputable outfit (MotionPro, Galfer, HEL, Goodridge.. etc), they usually have the specs. These guys would have the specs too. ---> https://spieglerusa.com/brakes/brake-li ... a0137.html
Could write to someone like: --> https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Yamaha-OEM-Clut ... 238df3e017 Have them measure.
Don't know how deep yer pockets are..but since you know the lengths you need, tons of outfits that could custom make to your specs.

750, 920, 1000, 1100 all use same clutch cable (55"ish). Not sure bout brake hose, cuz 750/920 uses single line, 1000/1100 uses three lines. I know the 81-83/750 is 43" (brake) cuz I just ordered a custom one (stock length). I believe, somewhere round 84', the 750 went to 3-hose brake system.
So..looks like for the lengths you need..having some outfit making them would be the way to go. Unless you can cross-reference something..which sounds like you'd be in the same boat, looking for the correct length.
Might get lucky and someone in here may have bunch laying around.
Jake may jump in here for ya. He's pretty good with come'n up with some of those lesser used details. I'm just go'n by memory.
Posting in VTFs' want ads "may" come up with something. Who knows?
