Virago 750, 93, bobber, passenger seat

PostAuthor: KGC » Wed Mar 30, 2016 5:05 pm

Hello to all guys, I managed to buy a virago 750 of 93, in good condition and with a lot of work already done. The former owner wanted to change it to bobber, I like the idea but I definitely need to put a passenger seat, keeping the bobber style.
As you can see from the photos the back was cut, I do not support to mount the seat. Do you think that reinforcing the bumper with supports can put the saddle?
I should point out that the bike I get Sundays.
Tell me your ideas!
Thank you

You will need to carry the passenger loads down to the rear struts or somewhere structural. You can bolt the new seat pad to the fender but don't expect it to carry any loads. Use metal tubing and bolt those to the rear strut (shock) mounts and place the seat on those somehow.

I know you posted this a long time ago but if you don’t mind we asking. Where did you get that seat? Thanks!

KCG has not logged in for about 3 years, so I would not hold my breath waiting for a reply.

:yup:

Plus the seat was on the bike when he bought it, that’s my take on it.

Conlyfe, it doesn't look like you'll get a response from the OP, but it looks to me like that seat could have been made using the original seat pan, cut down and the foam re-sculpted somewhat. It also looks to me like they were able to use the original seat cover (note the band at the seam back of the seat portion). There should be lots of material at the rear portion to have cut to shape and re-sewn. The original front mount would be used, but they either just didn't bother with a rear mount, or added some custom bits to clip on to the frame around the "kick-up" area.

Just my observation from here....
My Ride, '97 XV1100, +14, 10" over forks, progressive rear, Jardine forward controls, cobra slip-ons, K&N Filter, Dyno Jet Stage 1, Kuryakin grips, heat demon heaters, custom fabricated seat, chrome side covers, bullet signals, risers, custom modified rear fender with modified FZ1 tail light, sectioned and reversed front fender, custom paint...
